Storms

We’ve all been through storms in life, I’m sure. Sometimes in life, we’re faced with tough decisions. And the decisions we make have a direct impact on our lives. Sometimes positively and sometimes negatively.

Where do we turn when we are faced with tough decisions? Is it a close friend, maybe a family member? When we seek out counsel do we seek out people who are going to tell us what we want to hear? Maybe because of fear. So we want someone to confirm, that the decision or decisions we are making, are what we want in life. Thereby calming our greatest fears and doubts.

Or, when we seek out someone, do we seek people who will tell us what we need to hear? And not simply tell us what we want to hear, thereby giving us the easy way out.

Life happens as they say. We go through seasons of change and storms in life. And storms are certain to come our way.

Jesus says in John 16:33 to take heart, that in this world we will have trials and trouble. But, Jesus tells us that in Him we will have peace through the storm. That we can take heart and be courageous through him, because Jesus has conquered the world.

Jesus has overcome death, sin, and the grave. Jesus has not only paid it all for us. But, he has conquered this world .

Yes, storms will come our way, but when we seek out Jesus, placing our faith, trust, and confidence in Him, Jesus walks right beside us through the storm. And it is Jesus, that has the power to calm the storm.

In Luke 8:22-25, Jesus and some of the disciples got into a boat, and Jesus said, “ Let’s cross over to the other side of the lake.” And so they set out.

Jesus during the sail had fallen asleep. And it was then, that a fierce and ferocious windstorm came down the lake. The boat was being swamped and tossed about and in danger. So, the disciples went to wake up Jesus saying,  Master, Master, we are going to die!

It was then that Jesus got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waves, and they ceased. And all was calm. Jesus then said to his disciples, “Where is your faith?” The disciples were fearful and amazed,  and they asked one another, “Who then is this? He commands even the winds and the waves, and they obey him!”

Where is our faith in times of trouble? Who do we turn to? Do we turn to the one who conquered the world  The only one who can calm the storm  and give us a peace that surpasses all understanding. That even in times of trial, struggle and pain, we can take heart, placing our faith trust, and hope in Jesus Christ.

The one who conquered the world. Jesus, the one, and only the one who has the power to calm the storm.

It is only in and through Jesus, that we may find strength, peace, and hope through all that life throws at us.

Let us place out faith in Jesus. For Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. And through all life throws at us, it is Jesus who walks every single step of the way right beside us. And we see and experience his grace, mercy, love, and goodness when we seek him out. Even, in the midst of the storm.
