The Whisper Of God

Many months ago, God began working on my heart. God was calling me to step out in faith, and do something I had never done before. Has anyone ever felt that feeling of uncomfortable vulnerability, when God asks us to something different? God was saying hey, you should write a blog! A blog, that doesn’t sound too difficult, right! Well, let’s just say that I’m no computer genius. As far as computers are concerned I know these things, on / off button, mouse, and keyboard. And a few other minor, but important technicalities. That is the extent of my universe when it comes to computers. How on earth was I going to begin a blog!

The feeling of fear, doubt, and anxiousness over came me. Thoughts of, there’s absolutely no way! Nope, not me, maybe later! After all, I had never written a blog, and had absolutely no idea where to even remotely begin. The only thing I had written was that high school paper, say about 30 years ago. I figured well, maybe this blog thing can be put off for a while. Maybe God was saying write a blog if you feel like it. Yes, that was most certainly it! Write if I want to! But if not, that’s okay. So, I put off writing a blog for months, figuring that the feeling, would simply fade away into the sunset. That line of thinking couldn’t have been more wrong! God had other ideas.

Over the next several months, the thought of writing a blog was an on again off again prospect. Thoughts would come and go. I would occasionally embrace the idea of a blog in my own mind. But, running fast and far away from the idea of this blog seemed like the best route to take. I didn’t see it early on, but God was writing something into my heart. It was a seed that the Spirit planted into my heart. One that was growing without my realization. Until one day, the feeling was simply too overwhelming to ignore.

1 Corinthians 3:6-8 6 I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. 7 It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. 8 The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work.

You see, God was asking me to step out in faith and just trust Him. For someone like myself, who likes to be in control at all times, that was a huge deal. He knew that somewhere deep within, the ability to write a blog was there. I didn’t see it that way, but God did. It seemed that for all the signs and wonders, and small miracles that God had performed in my life through the years, I still had an issue with stepping out in faith. Or maybe, it was an issue with giving up control. Either way, there was a problem.

God is almighty and all-knowing. He knows us better than we know ourselves. Luke 12:7 says; Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. The key words there are, don’t be afraid. Fear has a way of paralyzing and immobilizing us if we allow it to. But, if we believe and trust in God that all things are possible through Him. Then fear will have a much more difficult, if not impossible time of taking over in us. So, my friends, lean into Jesus. Listen to Him, draw near to Him, and lean on Him for his grace, love, and mercy endures forever. Just remember Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
I truly hope you enjoyed reading my first blog post as much as I enjoyed writing it. There will be more to come. Have a blessed day!
