Connecting With Jesus

Romans 10:17

17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.

Have you ever felt like you have lost your connection with Jesus? Life is challenging! We will face adversity in our lives. Sometimes our life will be sailing along perfectly, and then suddenly, we hit a stumbling block. In our difficulty, we may wonder, where is Jesus in all of this? I am having trouble seeing, and experiencing Him, through my storm. We may also have trouble hearing God, through all the static and noise of our life.

Sometimes hearing God in our lives, is like being on a cell phone call. Once in awhile, our reception isn’t that great, and the call keeps cutting in and out. We find ourselves continuing to ask, what did you say, I’m sorry, our call is cutting out. Usually our calls cut out when we’re in remote distant areas, but not always. We can have the world’s greatest reception, and still our calls can cut out periodically. Sometimes when we’re on calls, it sounds a little like the kid from the Charlie Brown movies.WaWaWaWa! How is our connection with God, when He is speaking to us? Do we listen to what He is relaying to us? Do we hear every word He is speaking? Or, are our ears not in tune with what God wants from us?

Reach Out To Jesus Daily

Job 11:13

13 “If you would prepare your heart, And stretch out your hands toward Him;

In order for us to clearly hear what Jesus is asking of us, we need to stay connected to Him. We stay connected and in tune with His will for us, by reading, and remaining in His word. When we remain in God’s word, it helps us to get through all the static we hear daily. God’s word, is the voice of truth that speaks to us, if we allow it to enter into our hearts, minds, and soul.

Speak With Jesus Daily

1 Thessalonians 5:17-18

17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Are we connecting to Jesus daily through prayer? If not, why? How can we understand the will of God in our lives, if we don’t reach out to Him in prayer? If we don’t have daily conversations with God, it will be difficult to hear Him clearly. Our prayers don’t have to be long and drawn out. In fact we are told that we should not pray with many words.

Matthew 6:7

7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.

Our prayer’s can be simple yet powerful and effective. As long as when we are connecting to God through prayer we do so fervently, and with a pure heart. God will hear our prayer.

Listen To Jesus

Proverbs 3:6-8

6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil.8 It will be health to your flesh,

And strength to your bones.

When we call out to Jesus in prayer with a pure heart, He hears us. After you reach out to Jesus in prayer, take the time to open your heart and ears. Listen to what God is saying to you. Reflect on His word, and His direction. Jesus loves His children. He will never leave us or forsake us. Jesus will always be our guide in our times of trouble. Sometimes the seas will be rough, the winds will be howling, and yes, we will be in a storm. But, rest assured, Jesus will be right there with you through it. All you have to do is look and listen.
